Community Focus Group has launched the COVID-19 Prevention Hygiene Project to support urban and Rural communities in Kenya by slowing the spread of COVID-19. Short Term and Long Term Goals of the Project are : 1. Continued access to safe water: 2. Promotion of hand washing 3. Disinfection of frequently touched communal places 4. Face Masks for t the most Vulnerable 5.food packets for the most vulnerable during lockdown / or shutdown
The rapid spread of COVID-19 has quickly overwhelmed advanced health systems in Europe, the UK, and the US. Though African countries have reported fewer cases to date, time is of the essence to mitigate the devastating effect the virus could have on those in low- and middle-income communities.Currently Kenya has 126 people who are positive for Covid-19 as at 4th April 2020 and counting..
Community Focus Group will support communities across urban and rural Kenya, -where 60% live in urban centers including cities and 72.97% live in rural areas by 1.Access to safe water 2. Promotion of hand washing and use of sanitizers 3. Disinfection of frequently touched communal places 4. Access to face masks and emergency painkillers and Lozenges 5.Access to Emergency food packets within 3 months (90 Days).
1. Continued access to safe drinking water and general hygienic use of water in less privileged areas in collaboration with the National, County and Local government: 2. Continued community awareness and strictness to general human Sanitation. 3. Fumigation of public places and protective gears to prevent further infections and spread of Covid - 19 virus including taking safety measures with the service providers, volunteers and staff at the battle front in combating further spread of the virus.
