We are providing 40 wheelchairs to physically disabled individuals in the refugee camps of Goma, DR Congo. These individuals, displaced by war, face daily challenges due to their inability to move freely. Our initiative will improve their mobility and independence, allowing them to regain dignity in a dire situation. The project directly impacts people with disabilities in the overcrowded camps of Goma, where over 270,000 displaced individuals are struggling for survival.
Goma, DR Congo, has witnessed massive displacement due to ongoing conflicts, leaving over 270,000 people in refugee camps. Among them are people with physical disabilities who struggle daily with movement, facing discrimination and isolation. Tragically, 12 disabled refugees have already died due to neglect and inability to access basic care. This crisis is compounded by a lack of mobility aids, leaving them vulnerable to further trauma and even death.
This project will distribute 40 wheelchairs to disabled individuals in Goma's refugee camps. With your support, we will provide these essential tools to help improve their mobility and independence. By ensuring that these individuals can move freely, we will alleviate their suffering and reduce the discrimination they face in the camps. This project directly addresses the urgent need for mobility aids, offering them a chance at a better quality of life in a refugee camp setting.
By empowering people with disabilities in Goma's refugee camps with mobility aids, this project will foster a more inclusive environment where all individuals are able to contribute to their communities. Over time, providing independence and dignity will encourage the creation of sustainable support systems for disabled refugees. This initiative will not only save lives but will also work toward creating a more equitable and supportive environment for all displaced individuals in Goma.
