The aim of this project is that you know how we are working in the coronavirus pandemic with children who live in vulnerable conditions in slums of Buenos Airescity. As a Foundation, Pilares have been working very close with families, and the pandemic has challenge us. We have to transform all our activities and proposals for families to a virtual scheme. By helping us, you are contribute to help families with nurturing products and cleaning products in order to help them to face COVID 19.
In Buenos Aires, there are different towns and villages which are known for poverty, health crises and violence. A number of families are suffering from different kinds of problems. As of now, due to the pandemic many homes have been devastated. Many do not even have the chance to get tested, let alone receive the necessary medical attention. The pandemic has also caused many to lose their jobs and has made an already bad situation worse
Most of the food that people in Villa 21-24 receive comes from aid institutions such as community help centers and other government aid programs. Pilares have been a back bone for these towns in the time of crisis, such as COVID 19. Pilares helps the community with food, and different sanitary supplies. Before the pandemic Pilares staff had the chance to help the community through door to door activities, however, now they are doing virtual help.
When the quarantine is over, the team from Pilares will be able to return to the centres and the villages to resume their face-to-face work with the children and their families. Topics such as education, health, welfare, and prevention of gender-based violence can be revisited on a face-to-face basis.
