This project will raise much needed funds for Mercy Hospital for Women's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and Special Care Nursery to purchase vital equipment. This equipment is necessary to continue providing care for the smallest and sickest premature babies, who often need help to breathe.
Each year Mercy Hospital for Women cares for over 1,800 babies in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and Special Care Nursery (SCN). Our NICU and SCN cares for babies who are born sick or premature at Mercy Hospital for Women, as well as babies born elsewhere in Victoria who need intensive care. The NICU provides intensive care to the smallest and sickest babies, who often need help to breathe.
Our NICU team need updated equipment to ensure we continue to offer the highest level of care for these vulnerable babies. All funds raised will go towards purchasing this vital and life-saving equipment.
More than 9 out of 10 premature babies survive and most go on to develop normally, all thanks to this life-saving medical equipment and the wonderful staff at Mercy Health who will continue to provide compassionate care to these vulnerable babies and their families.
