Why Reusable Pads Matter

By Okolo Chioma | Project Leader

Dear Partners,

For many girls living in poverty, purchasing disposable sanitary pads every month is simply impossible. As a result, some resort to unsafe alternatives that can lead to infections, discomfort, and embarrassment.

Reusable sanitary pads offer a sustainable solution. They are cost-effective, environmentally friendly, and can last for months when properly maintained. Through our project, girls not only receive reusable pads but also learn how to produce them independently.

This practical skill provides lasting benefits. A girl who learns to make reusable sanitary pads can support herself and potentially teach others. Communities become more resilient, and families spend less on menstrual products.

In addition, reusable pads reduce waste and promote environmental sustainability. This aligns with global efforts to improve menstrual equity while protecting the environment.

Your support helps us purchase materials, organize training sessions, and distribute reusable pad kits. Every contribution strengthens our mission to improve girls’ education, health, and dignity.

Together, we are creating sustainable menstrual health solutions that will continue making a difference long after the training ends.

Best wishes,
Empower Future Initiative Team
