Workshop, Quito (Psychology and self esteem)
Hello!
Thanks for your trust!
We may inform you that the Christmas events of our Foundation were successful in the cities of Quito, Riobamba, Ambato, Loja. They included lunch and a bag of treats for each one of the attendees.
The next step is diffusing information on leadership and awareness of the condition of Turner Syndrome to the members of the foundation who live far away. The material is already written and prepared, but it needs to be proofread, and province leaders need to be trained with it (may include trips so the trainers visit them and get to know each other).
It is nice to count on you!
Introduction
This report aims to highlight the various social participation and collaboration activities that have taken place through different events, interviews, and forums in Ecuador, organized by FEPAST. During the recent period, several initiatives were carried out with the aim of empowering the Turner Syndrome Community, promoting social control in health, strengthening women's entrepreneurship through the interview conducted at Emprendaje Violeta, and fostering motivation and the Christmas spirit through events in various Ecuadorian cities such as Ambato, Riobamba, Loja, and Quito.
These activities contribute to social development, the creation of collective awareness, and the improvement of people's living conditions, especially those of vulnerable communities. Each of these experiences represents an important step toward strengthening community networks and promoting values such as inclusion, teamwork, and social responsibility.
1. Interview at Emprendaje Violeta
The interview conducted at Emprendaje Violeta to our CEO LIly Alcivar was one of the most enriching experiences. Emprendaje Violeta is an initiative that promotes the economic and social empowerment of women through training in entrepreneurship, leadership, and business management. The goal of this interview was to share the experiences of Turner syndrome women in Ecuador and how, through training and access to tools and resources, they manage to transform their ideas into successful projects that contribute to their well-being
During the interview, key topics were discussed, such as overcoming ableistic barriers in the business world, the challenges women face in accessing financing, and the strategies they employ to promote inclusion and equity in the field of entrepreneurship. The success stories presented during the interview serve as inspiration for other women who wish to start businesses, highlighting the importance of platforms like Emprendaje Violeta in promoting female leadership.
2. Participation in the Social Control in Health Forum
The Social Control in Health Forum was an important platform for discussing issues related to access to health and the active participation of citizens in decision-making about public health policies. During this forum, topics such as transparency in the health system, the efficiency of public resource use, and the importance of involving the community in monitoring and controlling health services were addressed.
Participation in this forum was an opportunity to highlight the need to strengthen social control mechanisms, ensuring that citizens have a voice in the management of resources allocated to health. Through open discussions and roundtables as Patient representatives in various hospitals, the importance of collaboration between health authorities and the population was identified to improve the quality of medical services and ensure that all sectors of society have access to them.
3. Christmas Events in Ambato, Riobamba, Loja, and Quito
During the Christmas season, several events were organized in different cities in Ecuador to promote the Christmas spirit and provide support to the most vulnerable communities. These events, which took place in Ambato, Riobamba, Loja, and Quito, included recreational activities, havinng a get together lunch, and the distribution of gifts to children and patients with Turner Syndrome.
In Ambato, an event was organized that included playful activities and dynamics for children, as well as a community Christmas dinner and a trip to Baños. In Riobamba, workshop and get together were held. In Loja, a Christmas meeting was held, bringing together people of all ages to celebrate the season in an inclusive and participatory way. Finally, in Quito, a solidarity day was organized, during which the members enjoyed a good time.
These events not only created an atmosphere of joy and unity in the communities but also helped raise awareness about the importance of solidarity and cooperation during the Christmas season. Through these events, support was provided to many families facing economic, physical and social vulnerabilities.
4. Motivational Workshop
The motivational workshop held in various communities had as its main goal the strengthening of the emotional and psychological well-being of the participants. Throughout the workshop, topics such as the importance of self-esteem, resilience in the face of adversity, and the creation of personal and collective goals were addressed. Participants were guided through dynamics and exercises that allowed them to reflect on their goals, their capabilities, and the tools they have at their disposal to achieve personal and professional success.
This type of activity is essential to help people with Turner to overcome obstacles and find motivation in difficult times. Additionally, workshops encourage the creation of support networks among participants, contributing to the overall strengthening of the community. The participants’ testimonies reflected a positive impact, as many felt more empowered to make important decisions in their lives.
Conclusion
The activities and events carried out within the framework of the various social and empowerment initiatives significantly contribute to improving the quality of life of Turner syndrome community in Ecuador. The interview at Emprendaje Violeta and participation in the Social Control in Health Forum highlight the importance of equity, active participation, and the empowerment of the most vulnerable sectors, especially women. On the other hand, the Christmas events and the motivational workshop demonstrated how solidarity, teamwork, and personal growth are fundamental to generating positive change in society.
Each of these activities represents another step toward building a more inclusive and equitable society, where all citizens have access to the same opportunities and can contribute to the development of their community. It is essential to continue promoting these initiatives, as they have a direct impact on social transformation and the well-being of individuals.
