WASHINGTON, D.C. - March 2016 - The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation has awarded a $500,000 grant to GlobalGiving to help develop and test GG Rewards, the system that GlobalGiving uses to recognize and reward its nonprofit partners for their efforts to learn, improve, and grow their impact. With this investment, GlobalGiving will explore ways of incentivizing nonprofit effectiveness and providing information to donors about nonprofit performance.
This two-year grant will allow GlobalGiving to understand what incentives drive nonprofits to engage and what visible signals drive more thoughtful giving in donors. It will also allow GlobalGiving to experiment with different presentations of its fee in an effort to discover new ways to help donors think about overhead and the real cost of producing social impact.
"We work with thousands of nonprofits around the world, and we've seen our partners struggle to measure, improve, and communicate their effectiveness," said Mari Kuraishi, president and co-founder of GlobalGiving. "We also know that donors lack meaningful and accessible information to help them make informed giving choices. GlobalGiving's GG Rewards system has the potential to fill the gap by tracking nonprofit effectiveness and helping potential donors make better giving choices."
