The Link Between Learning and Impact

“GlobalGiving exists not just to help nonprofits get more funding, but also to help them have more impact,” said Alison Carlman, Director of Impact and Communications at GlobalGiving. “Our Top 10 list features our nonprofit partners that have demonstrated the greatest commitment to impact by Listening, Acting, Learning, and Repeating. We’ve seen that the most effective nonprofits listen to the people they intend to help by making feedback a part of every project. Then, they act on what they hear by trying out new ideas, they learn from their actions, and continually repeat the process.”

Top 10 List Criteria

GlobalGiving’s nonprofit partners who Listen. Act. Learn. Repeat. can earn Effectiveness Points through GG Rewards, a system for tracking the learning and effectiveness of every partner in the GlobalGiving community. With every point a nonprofit earns, they’re more likely to gain recognition and funding on GlobalGiving. GlobalGiving’s Top 10 List features 10 nonprofits with the highest quantity of Effectiveness Points and five Honorable Mentions selected by GlobalGiving staff.

More Resources for More Effective Nonprofits

The 15 featured organizations are based in nine different countries, and represent causes across the education, health and development sectors. “We were so pleased to hear the wonderful news,” said Achyut Das of Agragamee in India. “The support GlobalGiving has extended to Agragamee is unique and value-based. At every step we feel encouraged and strengthened to do more for the underprivileged children.”

GlobalGiving partnered with the Raikes Foundation to award grants to each of the organizations on the list. “Our goal is to drive more resources to more effective organizations,” said Carlman. “This list is our own Listen. Act. Learn. Repeat. experiment in finding ways to amplify impact around the world.”
