AlgomaTrad is dedicated to building inclusive and multigenerational community through the sharing, celebration, and education of music, dance, art and heritage craft traditions. AlgomaTrad fulfills its mission by: providing workshops, concerts, dances, gatherings, camps, and other activities based on these traditional arts; celebrating diverse cultures by engaging professional/elder workshop leaders and mentors; organizing collaborations of professional artists and heritage trades/craftspeople rooted in these traditions; partnering with other arts organizations that share this vision; providing venues for the performance, learning, and sharing of these traditional arts including the development of the AlgomaTrad Centre; showcasing Canadian artists who are rooted in heritage arts through festivals, events, performances, and workshops; raising funds for and maintaining bursaries to help make its programs accessible to families and individuals; and supporting local business and community in terms of services, food, and supplies. AlgomaTrad also advances the public's appreciation for the protection of the environment by providing workshop opportunities and by establishing environmental protocols in the organization's day-to-day business and for its facility, the AlgomaTrad Centre.
