We’re delighted to share some exciting news—we’ve reached our first goal of $10,000 through your gifts and others outside of GlobalGiving.org, to support smallholder farmers in East Africa! Thanks to your generosity, 40 farmers will now learn how to produce and use biochar to the Global Artisan Standard, opening doors to earn income from carbon removal credits while sequestering carbon and improving soil health.
But our work is far from over! We’re continuing this important campaign through our Sustainable Farming to Relieve Hunger in Malawi project Sustainable Farming to Relieve Hunger in Malawi project, which now extends to Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and more. Teams are also beginning training in Burundi, Liberia, Zambia, The Gambia, and Nigeria.
Your support enables training and innovation, empowering communities to thrive. Farmers are exploring creative ways to expand their reach, such as selling seedlings, and high-quality seeds, or starting small businesses with egg-laying chickens or rabbits. Biochar enriches their fields and boosts these efforts, creating a ripple effect of positive change.
Please tell your friends and family about this project and support us in the weeks ahead.
With gratitude and best wishes for the holiday season,
Dana, Michael, Evelind, and the East Africa Biochar Teams
P.S. Mark your calendar for #GivingTuesday on December 3! GlobalGiving.org is offering a $750,000 matching bonus pool, and all gifts up to $1,800 are matched. Share our mission with your friends and help us amplify our impact!
