At ACDI, we promote financial education as a key tool for young people in vulnerable contexts to make informed decisions, develop economic independence, and envision a future full of opportunities. In the town of La Madrid, our ongoing work with young entrepreneurs is showing tangible results.
Abigail Gómez is 27 years old, a nursing student, and her only source of income comes from a small business selling catalog products and lingerie. Thanks to the training workshops organized by ACDI — on entrepreneurship, marketing, personal finance, and business finance — Abigail was able to make a significant transformation in her venture.
With dedication and a strong desire to learn, she redesigned her brand’s logo, giving it a more professional image aligned with her values. She also improved her use of social media as a sales channel and began organizing virtual sales fairs through WhatsApp, which proved to be very successful.
One of the most impactful changes came in how she managed her inventory and finances. Before, she lacked clarity about her income and how to reinvest it. Now, with better financial organization, she has increased both the variety and quantity of her products, better responding to customer demand and expanding her growth potential.
Participation in the in-person entrepreneur fairs organized by ACDI in La Madrid also gave her greater visibility and helped her connect with new audiences.
Abigail is one of many young people who, through access to training and support, has been able to transform her present and begin building a more secure and autonomous future. Thanks to those who support this project, stories like hers are possible.
