Many of you have supported us over the years and may be familiar with the names of ‘Donné’ and ‘Doré’, the then two young boys who went on to secondary school and are currently going to agricultural school in the neighboring town of Tsiroanomandidy.
We also reported that on the weekends they often walk back home to their village to support their mother and help her farming. As our very first truly homegrown students, they also started to volunteer their expertise to help the students grow vegetables in our school gardens. The pictures attached to this report show the direct result of their hands-on teaching.
The potential of these two young men, who we were able to send to secondary and agricultural school with your support, are almost limitless. Last but not least, soon we don’t have to consult outside agricultural experts anymore, but can draw on the expertise and know-how of our very own.
At our last site visit the teacher wanted to make sure that we take a picture of the French words they are teaching to their students. French is the second official language of Madagascar, but in the countryside most people speak only Malagasy. The teachers are very proud that they also teaching some French to their students. We are very happy to comply and have added two of these photos in this report.
