For our founder's birthday this month, we are celebrating all women. We have documented Native women’s stories for years and are honored to be a platform for them. This month, 3G is spotlighting United States Representative Sharice Davids. As a member of the 116th Congress, Rep. Davids became one of the first two Native American women to serve in Congress and the first LGBTQIA+ Native American in Congress. As a college student, she focused on community development, working on Native American reservations, which led to her White House fellowship in 2016. She won a seat representing Kansas in 2018.

Davids advocates for innovative solutions to combat climate change and ensure a healthier world for future generations. Her efforts include promoting clean energy technologies, protecting public lands and waters, and supporting sustainable projects to build a healthier, more resilient Kansas. Her main climate and environmental policies are:

  • Shifting to renewable energy: She voted for bipartisan investments in research and development, science education, and the STEM workforce to prepare the U.S. to lead in clean energy manufacturing and climate technologies.
  • Revitalizing our public lands and waters: Representative Davids emphasizes the importance of revitalizing public lands and waters for public and environmental health.
  • Bringing smart investments home: Representative Davids voted for the bipartisan infrastructure law, which supports climate-friendly public transportation in Kansas, such as electric buses, and expands electric vehicle charging infrastructure.

At 3G, we are continuing to monitor and sound the alarm about Native Americans and the degradation their lands face. We thank you for your support; we could not continue hearing their stories, amplifying voices, and demanding change without YOU.
