Our Fight Continues

By Luke Sutton | Development Intern

With US oil prices dropping sharply, communities nationwide are seeing tanker equipment sit unused and oil workers being laid off at alarming rates. It leaves many areas, like the MHA nation, seeing very little benefit from the oil boom while their lands continue to deal with the devastating effects caused to the environment. The local citizens are left wondering what the future will hold for themselves and their land.

On an international note many indigenous populations were closely involved with COP21, but from North America the Indigenous Environmental Network worked hard with their activists to raise the awareness and document the decisions of the international climate conference.

We are hard at work as we plan out engagement campaign for our feature film A Different American Dream. We are very excited about the specifics of what we will soon have in store, but we can say that we will educate audiences about the threat to the future of the MHA Nation and develop a public opinion campaign to end the destruction of the MHA Nation lands. The new year energizes us in our fight to shine a light on the serious environmental consequences of the oil boom. We are thrilled to be so close to bringing out story to you.

We are able to reach our goals thanks to your continued support, and we thank you as we continue to raise awareness of the threats to the MHA Nation as a result of the oil boom and irresponsible drilling procedures.
