Fueling Dreams Milk for Vulnerable Kids in Uruguay

Uruguay Food Bank has been leading a year-long campaign to make sure that 24 institutions providing food to low-income people throughout the year have access to powdered milk.

Milk is one of the most nutritious foods you can find. It is an excellent source of the nutrients your body relies on to properly absorb calcium, including vitamin D, vitamin K, phosphorus and magnesium. It is, at the same time, one of the most difficult products to get for our beneficiaries due to the fact that it is very expensive.

“Powdered milk is very much welcome as it is the core of the breakfast and tea we serve for our 150 children. We have finally been able to meet that need. Thanks to the support we receive from GlobalGiving and other organizations, every month we are providing 24 institutions with the milk they need to serve a daily glass to their children.

345,500 glasses of milk have been served so far in 2022 which are equivalent to 345,500 smiles on the faces of those children.

And it is that, the smiles on children´s faces, which motivate us to keep on working to achieve this goal every month of the year. There are only two months to go in 2022 and we hope you can stand by us.

We give “345,500 thank you” to each and every person that help us to keep on serving glasses of milk and putting smiles on children´s faces.

We would like to keep you updated on the progress of the ¨glass of milk¨ campaign that the Uruguay Food Bank has been running this year.  In that connection, we are very proud to announce that the 17 institutions that are beneficiaries of that campaign have received 225,000 glasses of milk so far this year, which is wonderful news as that in turn means that 225,000 children have had the chance to have access to a warm glass of milk.

This campaign becomes more important than ever at this time of the year, when the winter starts and the cold weather makes us crave for warm food. We all know that milk has the essential nutrients that support a child´s growing body. But, in addition to that, a nice glass of warm milk is comforting and help children to feel happier.

All of this has been possible thanks to your support and we will be always grateful for that.
