With love and enthusiasm from the community we serve, we have achieved many milestones on our way to building a maternity unit to save 2 300 lives in Burundi. The involvement of the community and support from health authorities and different stakeholders have tremendously accelerated our activities and have therefore achieved many of our milestones. From raising foundation, and walls and roofing activities as well as closing activities, we have seen many helping hands. This allowed us to make huge progress on this project.
We are happy and grateful that the building is now at 98% of completion. The Village Microclinic has already requested authorization from the Ministry of Health and AIDS control in Burundi to open the maternity unit in the coming months. We'll be proud to see this unit opened so that we can better serve the neediest and underserved people in our community especially women and children. They need our services because they have to walk many kilometers to reach the nearest health facility. For women at labor or those having an emergency in pregnancy, this situation happens many times at night and an ambulance can't reach this location.
The maternity unit is ready for use but we still lack necessary equipment to make it operational. We are glad that you have chosen to be on our side in this project and we are thankful for your continued support. We will continue to share with you how we are doing and the progress we have made toward completing this project. I have attached some photos to allow you realize the progress we have made so far.
With gratitude
