This month our teen mothers celebrated International Women's Day in many ways. We were delighted to welcome Ingvild from Engineers without Borders Norway who has set up a solar power installation at our school. This is a game changer as previously we had power cuts every day, and suffered from very poor connectivity.
With this new installation we can start to use online materials and collaborate with schools across the globe.
The students are particularly enjoying yoga every Tuesday morning with the My Little Zen programme, which provides technology and teachers for both online yoga classes and digital literacy courses.
The young women now have regular sessions with Hassania Sadek, a French-born teacher specialising in pre- and post-natal yoga.
“I have always wanted to guide women during their yoga journey,” she says. “I have experienced a few different disciplines in yoga such as Hatha yoga and swing yoga. Then during my own pregnancy, I found I could directly get the benefits of this amazing training. I felt more connected with my body and my baby.”
She now leads the hour-long, weekly sessions for our students – connecting via the internet from her home in the United Arab Emirates. More information on our website here.
