Dormitory Walls Are Up - Help Us Raise the Roof!

By Ezekiel Kassanga | Project Leader

At the start of 2025 academic year, Tumaini welcomed 55 girls, each one seeking a second chance at education in a place free of stigma, filled with hope, and committed to excellence. The pressing challenge is a limited dormitory place. While our classrooms can hold up to 180 students, our dormitory space had reached full capacity, preventing more vulnerable girls from joining the program.

Thanks to your generous support, Phase One of our new dormitory construction is now successfully complete. The foundation has been laid, and the walls are up, a powerful symbol of hope rising, brick by brick. This milestone marks a major step forward in our goal to double the number of girls we can accommodate on campus.

Now, we are entering Phase Two: Roofing and Finishing.

Before this dormitory can become a safe, nurturing home for the next group of students, we must complete the roofing and move on to the essential finishing works - installing windows and doors, plastering and flooring, plumbing, wiring, ceiling boards, painting, and finally furnishing the space with beds, lockers, and other necessities.

At Tumaini, we’ve always taken a step-by-step, impact-driven approach, making the most of every donation. This project is no different. Every contribution—no matter the size—moves us closer to the day we can swing open the doors of this new dormitory and say “Welcome home” to 56 more girls ready to reclaim their future.

Why this matters:

Each girl who joins Tumaini is a life changed. These young mothers and vulnerable girls are not just finding a school—they’re finding community, opportunity, and dignity. Our dormitory is not just a building. It’s a safe haven where dreams are rebuilt, and confidence is restored.

What’s next:

We now urgently need your help to complete the roofing and move forward with the finishing stages. With your continued support, we can ensure that no girl remains on the waiting list simply because we ran out of space.

Let’s keep building hope together.

Help us raise the roof—and raise futures.
