Here in Albania, often when women are diagnosed with cancer, their family members often do not know what to do and there are many times spouses leave from the patient so that they must go through surgery and/or chemotherapy, and recovery on their own.

One of the major side-effects women still face in Albania from breast cancer surgery is Lymphedema, which is caused by the removal of the lymphatic glands under the underarm area and no longer allows the lymphatic liquid to naturally be dispursed & purged from the arms throughout the rest of the body. This causes the arms to fill with lymphatic liquid and to enlarge, often painfully so. Lymphedema permanently affects the arms and makes it very difficult to live a normal life, especially when trying to work a job or do daily tasks around the home.

Since 2019, our ABC Palliative Care Center has enabled many patients to have a more normal life by bringing their enlarged arms under control through manual & machine therapy, along with a holistic approach to healthcare given by our medical team composed of specially trained Physical Therapists, Nurses, and Family Physicians. ABC has also educated hundreds of patients’ family members in how to care for their loved ones at home, allowing for even more holistic care. In addition, our Lympedemia service 

This effective and compassionate care is offered to our over 150 patients monthly for free, at no cost to our patient or their family. Your generous financial gift will be used to help us to serve more & more patients suffering with Lymphedema, allowing them to get back to a more normal life.
