Ana Natalia Anariba Fajardo

ENGLISH: TRANSFORMING FUTURES IN RURAL HONDURAS

Greetings from educate.,

Today, I am honoured to share with you some of the recent stories and achievements from our scholarship programme and youth empowerment initiatives here in Trinidad, Honduras. This year has yielded profound and transformative results in the lives of our rural youth, and we are grateful for your support!

Thanks to your solidarity, this year we have supported 47 young people, including 43 high school students and 4 university students, who are making steady progress in their studies. Our comprehensive support model continues to strengthen school retention and open opportunities that were previously out of reach for rural young people.

In communities where just half of students continue after 6th grade and 80% of families live below the poverty line, these achievements represent real hope and transformation. 2025 marked a special milestone: six young women will this month complete their secondary education. In each case, they are the first in their families to achieve a high school degree.

Alongside our scholarship programme, our programmes are thriving:

  • EducArte: 21 young people actively participated in our EducArte arts programme, developing their artistic skills through drawing, painting, sculpture, and community muralism. We recently celebrated the creation of a mural at our Youth Center focused on peacebuilding and gender justice. This is a collaboratively designed and collectively painted art piece that reflects the power of rural youth, their leadership capacities, and their commitment to building long-lasting peace from the ground up.
  • UniDeportes: In our sports programme, 53 young leaders participate weekly in sports activities that strengthened their well-being, teamwork, and leadership skills. This year we have beenable to engage 450 children from surrounding villages in recreational sports activities, promoting inclusion, community building, and active participation.
  • Technology with Purpose: Our STEM programme has continued to grow, enabling children and young people to acquire essential digital and technological skills. This year, participants designed functional robotics prototypes and explored how technology can contribute to collective solutions and peacebuilding.
  • Joven Comunica: In our youth communications programme, eight young people developed skills in digital communication and audiovisual production, including a ‘Photovoice’ project using analogue photography to capture the realities of day to day life in their rural communities, strengthening their identity and civic engagement.

In addition, during monthly leadership and empowerment workshops, 112 young people acquired tools for personal development, such as decision-making skills, sexual health education, bullying prevention, and learning to build healthy relationships. Thanks to the strengthening of our team of 10 young facilitators, these opportunities are expanding, generating a transformative effect throughout the community.

Each of these achievements reflects the collective commitment between educate., the local communities where we work, and you, our donors and supporters, who make it possible for rural youth to discover their potential, lead processes of change, and become agents of social transformation. Thank you for believing in youth, for joining us, and for making it possible for education, art, sports, and technology to open paths of hope and opportunity here in Honduras.

With deep gratitude,

Ana Natalia Anariba Fajardo
