"Home Renovation Helped Ah-Ming Reclaim a Stable Life"
Ah-Ming is a person with disabilities living in Nanao Township, Yilan County. Due to physical disabilities, cataracts, and multiple chronic illnesses, he relies entirely on a wheelchair for mobility. In this remote rural area, he has long lived in an old house made of metal sheets and wooden boards. Without a bathroom at home, using the toilet and bathing became extremely challenging—especially after his leg amputation.
When his relatives and friends learned about his situation, they helped him apply for a home renovation service through Eden Social Welfare Foundation. Staff from the foundation visited Ah-Ming’s home to thoroughly understand his needs and living conditions. After careful discussion and assessment, they built a simple shower room, installed a toilet, and added handrails based on his specific requirements. These improvements greatly enhanced his safety and comfort when using the bathroom and taking a shower.
After the renovation was completed, Ah-Ming’s quality of life significantly improved. While many inconveniences remain, these changes made him feel the warmth and support of the community. He is deeply grateful to Eden Foundation and everyone who helped him. Their care brought light and hope into his life, like sunshine breaking through the clouds.
