Ah-Ming from Nan’ao Township, Yilan County, is a person with physical disabilities who also suffers from cataracts and multiple chronic illnesses, relying entirely on a wheelchair for mobility. He has lived for many years in an old house made of metal sheets and wooden boards. Without a bathroom, using the toilet became an extremely difficult task after his amputation. With the assistance of friends and family, Ah-Ming applied for Eden’s home renovation program. After understanding his needs, a simple shower area was built, a toilet was installed, and safety handrails were added, significantly improving his daily life.
Ah-Yi, living in Xinyuan Township, Pingtung County, has Down syndrome and is a person with severe intellectual disability. He lives with his disabled father and 96-year-old grandmother. Their old house had a severely damaged ceiling and flooring, broken lighting, and a malfunctioning water heater. At night, the family had to move around in the dark, and bathing required heating water with firewood. Fortunately, Eden’s home renovation team assisted them by installing safety handrails, replacing the lighting, and adding an electric water heater, making the home safer and restoring warmth and comfort to the household.
In Hengchun Township, Pingtung County, Mr. Hsien, a stroke survivor with left-sided paralysis, is a person with severe physical and mental disabilities and also suffers from hypertension, diabetes, and gout. He relies on a wheelchair for mobility. Without accessible facilities at home, the living room—his most frequented space—was the only area he could comfortably access. Following an assessment, Eden installed ramps in doorways and carried out barrier-free renovations for his bathroom, greatly enhancing his living environment and quality of life.
