Eden Social Welfare Foundation upholds the spirit of its founder, Liu Hsia. With the concept of "A home without barriers, a home with love", the repair and maintenance service was officially implemented in 2015 to enable vulnerable families to have a friendly home environment, and to reduce the potential impact of medical costs on the safety of life.
At the age of 59, Mei Kuen, who suffers from mild intellectual disability, raises her two sons, who are also physically and mentally challenged, on her own. With no earning income, the mother and her three children rely only on government subsidies. The environment of the old house where they live is even more alarming. The roof is badly damaged, the furniture is moldy and dented due to prolonged rainfall, and the interior of the house is dark and humid due to the lack of sunlight.
After a visit by a social worker, she realized that Mei Kuen's home was in poor condition, so she applied for repair services for her. Then, after receiving Eden's service, Mei Kuen's emotional response became stable and her living environment was improved. This not only relieved her stress, but also provided the family with a home that could shelter them from the wind and rain!
Eden hopes that everyone can become a home guardian and speak out for the human rights of living and the physiological needs of a safe home. We invite you to support the Accessibility Services Program and work with us to create a safe living environment!
