Adopt orphaned meerkats

We are happy to bring you a warm update on our beloved meerkats here at DAKTARI Bush School & Wildlife Orphanage!

We’re thrilled to share that Tinkerbell has now fully recovered from her leg injury and is doing great. Her healing went smoothly, and she’s back to enjoying her days with the other meerkats in the group.

Pinocchio, Peter Pan, Timon, and Tinkerbell have formed a strong little family and continue to thrive together. They love the attention from the children visiting DAKTARI and are always up to something playful and entertaining. Watching them interact with each other is a daily joy for our team and the kids.

Karools, although still living separately, is doing wonderfully in his new space. His enclosure is open and sunny all day long, which he truly enjoys. It’s also close to our mongoose area, and it’s quite sweet to see him perking up, standing tall and alert when he notices them nearby — almost like he's keeping in touch with distant cousins.

And here's a delightful seasonal note: with the recent abundance of moths at night, the meerkats are in absolute heaven! Moths are their favourite snack, and they've been having a great time chasing and munching on them as the sun sets — it's a treat that brings out their playful side and makes everyone smile.
