As we move into the second half of 2025, the Alliance for African Women Initiative (AFAWI) is pleased to share an update following our annual fundraiser. Since our founding in 2006, AFAWI has remained steadfast in our mission to promote gender equality, combat HIV/AIDS stigma, and ensure access to education and basic human rights for vulnerable populations in Ghana, particularly women and children.
The annual fundraiser was a vital step in sustaining our work, and we are proud to report that the funds raised have been fully utilized in line with our programmatic goals. Preparations are now underway for the next annual fundraiser, building on the momentum of the previous campaign and expanding our outreach.
Thanks to the generosity of 19 donors, we raised $1,551 in March 2025. Although this amount fell short of our $7,500 target, we ensured that every dollar was spent purposefully and transparently. The funds were directed toward the following priority areas:
Supporting initiatives that promote gender equality and women’s empowerment.
Providing educational resources and scholarships for children in need.
Strengthening community-based programs focused on health, economic independence, and human rights advocacy.
Expanding our reach to underfunded communities through infrastructure development and logistical support.
Recognizing the need for ongoing support and the impact of consistent donor engagement, AFAWI has begun preparations for the 2026 Annual Fundraiser, scheduled for the end of this year and early next year. Key focus areas for the upcoming campaign will remain the same as last year.
We are also working on expanding our donor base through storytelling campaigns, community events, and new partnerships—locally and internationally.
The progress made this year demonstrates that even modest funding can yield meaningful results when allocated strategically. We are deeply grateful to our donors for believing in our mission and helping us sustain our work. Your contributions are making a real difference in the lives of women and children across Ghana.
As we prepare for the next phase of fundraising and programming, we invite our community of supporters to remain engaged. Together, we can continue breaking down barriers and building a more just, inclusive, and empowered society.
Donations remain open, and we welcome any support that will bring us closer to our long-term vision.
