Dear Friends,
Happy Giving Tuesday!
Thank you for your support of AIL’s innovative Mobile Literacy classes. So far in 2015, we have been able to offer 9 of these classes to 302 women and girls. The classes last for 4 months and so far the results from the 7 completed classes have been excellent. By the end of the course, 103 girls were at grade 4 literacy and another 52 at grade 3. AIL started these classes in 2013 and 905 girls have gone through the program with 514 ending up at grade 4 and 145 at grade 3 after the 4 month course. Quite an achievement! Just to give perspective, we estimate it can take an illiterate girl 36 months to reach 4th grade literacy in a traditional class!
Not only is the mobile literacy approach efficient learning but the youth love it!
“Hi. My name is Nasrin, I am a teen whose life has changed since attending Mobile Literacy class at AIL! The best and most important things I have learned from this class are writing and reading which gives me enough hope to continue. Besides that, I have found great social friends whom I can share almost everything with and we help each other. I have decided taking part in the English and literacy classes is just right for me. In addition, I have decided to go to regular school after gaining the ability to read and write and I hope to become an English teacher in the future”
We’d like to thank you so much for helping AIL to incorporate innovative teaching and modern technology into literacy learning. We appreciate your support.
