Dear Friends,
Communities frequently request the innovative Mobile Literacy Class for their centers. So far in 2016 there have been 6 four month long classes for 181 people including 150 females. 5 classes finished at the end of July and we will be getting results soon. Of the 181 students 97 started without knowing the alphabet, 56 knew the alphabet but could not read and 28 read at a first grade level. We look forward to sharing the students’ success next time.
Here is one student’s story: “I am BiBi Zakia and I am a housewife. When I first came to this class I did not know about the alphabet. Now here in this class I learnt all the letters of alphabet. I can make sentences and can type the words and sentences into the mobile phone and send to my friends, my teacher and the manager of the center . I can get responses from them. My family lives in Ghazni province, because the cost of calling is high I send messages to them. I am not so young, I thought my mind will not work and I will not learn , but now I know I am intelligent , I can read and write my homework into notebook. My teacher checks my notebook and signs it . I am so happy and thankful from AIL office for proving this opportunity. I request from my sisters who are illiterate, please join this Learning Center and seek knowledge.”
Thank you for your support.
