Dear Friends,
AIL held 10 mobile literacy classes in 2016 for 300 women. Eight of the classes were in Herat and two in Kabul province. All the classes have after 4 months of intensive work. The results have been excellent. At the time of enrollment 164 did not know the alphabet, 87 knew the alphabet and could read a little and 49 were able to read at 1st grade level. Now all have graduated the mobile literacy class, 45 reading at 3rd grade level and 255 at 4th grade level! That is 15% and 85% all in 4 months!
“I am BiBi Zakia and I am a housewife. When I first came to this class I did not know about the alphabet. Now here in this class I learned all the letters of alphabet. I can make sentences and can type the words and sentences into the mobile phone and send to my friends, my teacher and the manager of the center. I can get responses from them. My family lives in Ghazni province, because the cost of calling is high I send messages to them. I am not so young, I thought my mind will not work and I will not learn , but now I know I am intelligent , I can read and write my homework into notebook. My teacher checks my notebook and signs it . I am so happy and thankful from AIL office for proving this opportunity. I request from my sisters who are illiterate, please join this Learning Center and seek knowledge.”
