Within this context, CARE is building on sixty years of work in Afghanistan to launch a comprehensive humanitarian response with an immediate focus on meeting people’s urgent needs for the winter. Our goal is to provide life-saving assistance and livelihood recovery support, reaching 1.8 million people over the next three years. We will focus on nine provinces (Kandahar, Herat, Balkh, Ghazni, Kabul, Kapisa, Khost, Paktia and Parwan) where we have an existing presence and offices that are open and functioning. Women and girls will remain at the center of CARE’s response. They will be consulted directly and engaged fully in the design, implementation and monitoring of program activities.
You can find further details on our immediate work and future strategy in the attached document. Please do be in touch with any questions or reflections. We remain grateful for your solidarity and support.
