Kojo was trafficked at the age 8 with the promise of schooling – but he was forced to work on the lake instead. One day, he slipped on the gunwale of a rocking wooden canoe, hurting his back. Even though the injury made it difficult for him to walk straight or even stand, his master forced him back to work.
Unfortunately, years of unrelenting work continued, causing further damage to his still developing spine. Since his rescue and with IOM’s support, Kojo has undergone two successful spinal surgeries.
He can now stand, walk, and even play soccer with his friends. Kojo has completed Primary School, Junior High School, and is in his first year of Vocational School studying fashion design.
Please consider donating to support the Kojo and other rescued children in building a sustainable livelihood and better future.
