Despite the horrific and dangerous situation in Gaza, MECA staff, partners and volunters are continuing to provide vital aid to families.
After months of searchng, our local partners in north Gaza found critical supplies to buy from local stores. Israel blocks almost all the aid from reaching northern Gaza. But together our partners prepared and delivered 1,500 food parcels for families providing critical aid to people who are on the brink of famine.
In the last three months, MECA has opened 6 community kitchens in Gaza in partnership with the World Central Kitchen and our local partners. These kitchens provide more than 6,000 hot meals to displaced families each and every day. One kitchen opened last week with our local partner Atfaluna Society for the Deaf and young deaf people who trained in Atfaluna's culinary arts vocational program before it was bombed and destroyed are now cooking 1,200 hot meals for their community.
MECA has also worked on providing safe, clean drinking water through building 2 new water purification units in Mawasi, Khan Younis where tens of thousands of people are sheltering. And through purchasing clean water to fill up water bottles for displaced families.
We continue to work on food parcels, hygiene kits, and other critical aid when supplies are available thanks to your generous support.
