This report is a review of our summer activities.
As part of malaria prevention activities, mosquito nets were distributed to 100 households with young children. Young children with low immunity and weak resistance are at high risk of dying from malaria. Therefore, this summer, in addition to raising awareness of malaria prevention, mosquito nets were distributed to women in 100 households who have young children but do not have mosquito nets.
However, the demand for mosquito nets is still high, and in reality, government-distributed mosquito nets often do not reach many people (there are several reasons for this).
On the other hand, only distributing mosquito nets cannot fundamentally save people who lose their lives to malaria. It is necessary to comprehensively respond, including livelihood improvement support, awareness activities, and post-malaria response (mechanisms for vulnerable groups to access malaria treatment drugs, improvement of clinic operations, etc.).
We have been providing emergency support in parallel with self-reliance support (such as technical training for livelihood improvement and income support), but in the Democratic Republic of Congo, we keenly feel the need to carry out both simultaneously.
For the time being, we have visited three clinics this time, so we will share the situation with photos. Furthermore, in the Central Kasai Province, support for the operation of clinics constructed last year will be officially initiated from the next fiscal year, and we hope that our supporters will continue to understand the need for such support.
