Alleviating Hunger in Syria and  Supporting Returnees in Hish and Saraqib

1. Project Overview

  • Project Name: Alleviating Hunger in Syria and Supporting Returnees in Recently Liberated Areas of Hish and Saraqib
  • Project Location: Hish and Saraqib, Northwest Syria
  • Target Population: Returnee families in Hish and Saraqib, affected by long-term displacement.
  • Project Goal: To provide humanitarian aid and foster resilience and community rebuilding in the liberated areas.

2. Objectives

  1. Distribute essential food baskets to returning families to meet immediate nutritional needs.
  2. Foster community resilience and solidarity among returnees.
  3. Lay the foundation for longer-term recovery and rebuilding in Hish and Saraqib.

3. Activities Conducted

  1. Needs Assessment:
    • Conducted a rapid needs assessment to identify urgent requirements of returning families.
    • Coordinated with local community leaders to prioritize areas for intervention.
  2. Food Basket Distribution:
    • Distributed  food baskets, containing essential items such as rice, flour, oil, lentils, and canned goods.
  3. Community Engagement:
    • Collaborated with local councils and community representatives to ensure equitable distribution.
    • Held awareness sessions to promote unity and cooperation among returnees.

  • Successfully provided food assistance to families, covering immediate needs for.
  • Strengthened social cohesion and community ties through direct engagement and support.
  • Demonstrated SHF’s commitment to restoring dignity and fostering resilience in liberated areas.

    • Limited access to some areas due to infrastructure damage.
    • Logistical challenges in transporting aid to remote locations.
    • Ensuring safety and security of staff and beneficiaries.

    • Building trust within the community enhances the impact and sustainability of humanitarian interventions.
