Emergency Food Support in Hawarta Camp

By Alaa Aldeen Arhemo | Programs Manager

Dear generous donors, please watch the video below:

Despite years of displacement, many families remain in camps not by choice, but because their homes were completely destroyed and they have no means to rebuild or return. With no access to reconstruction support and limited income opportunities, the camps have become their only option for survival.

In Hawarta Camp, Salam Humanitarian Foundation (SHF) continues to stand alongside these families during a period of shrinking humanitarian assistance. Through multiple food distributions, our teams reached households that were struggling to meet even the most basic needs. We met parents who were skipping meals so their children could eat, and families relying on a single daily meal to survive.

The food baskets provided through this project were more than emergency assistance—they were a lifeline, restoring dignity and reminding families that they are not forgotten.

A message to our donors: every additional contribution helps us reach another family facing hunger with no alternative support. Your continued generosity allows us to respond when aid is most limited. Together, we can keep hope alive.

The video includes a powerful message from one of the camp residents, who describes the daily hardships faced by displaced families following the suspension of humanitarian assistance and essential aid. He explains how the interruption of support has directly affected families’ ability to secure food and basic necessities, emphasizing that remaining in the camp is not a choice, but a result of destroyed homes and the absence of any means for reconstruction or return.

This message reflects the voices of hundreds of families enduring hunger and deprivation in silence, and highlights the urgent need for continued humanitarian support during this critical period.
