Ndeipi! Training Report – 1st, 2nd and 3rd sessions
Ndeipi! kicked off on Monday, 14th March 2022. It is always exciting to see new participants take part in this life changing empowering experience. The group has 24 participants signed up with 7 of these being male. We have had a good turnout in all the 3 sessions. From the $1 that each participant was given as capital, the participants have gone and started different projects. The participants manage to come up with well thought and well researched projects.
In the first session, Chris Nenga taught the participants the importance of starting small and then growing from there. To many, $1 cannot start a business but with Ndeipi! this has proved to work. From $1, one participant testified that she managed to buy and sell 5 dozen eggs per day. Another participant who is an elderly man who walks with the aid of a walking stick, has done some research in his community and will be selling chicken pieces. He realised that in his community there aren’t nearby shops were people can buy meat and he will be filling that gap. He has a freezer and with the $1 he got, he started by selling penny cools to get more capital to start his chicken business. Another lady started with selling table spoons. She started with a set of 6 which she bought with the $1 she got from Ndeipi! Another very committed lady from Gweru who travels 278km to Harare, as started sewing baby pyjamas. She had a sewing machine which was lying idle. With the capital she got from Ndeipi!, and the knowledge she received from the 1st session, she bought 1 metre fleece fabric to start her business.
Ndeipi! has taught participants that it is not about how much capital you have, but that you can start with as little as $1. Chris Nenga also taught the participants the importance of accountability, discipline and good budgeting for any business to succeed.
With the support from our donors, Makomborero Zimbabwe gave all participants a bag of 10 baby items to boost their business. We cannot wait to hear how the selling of these clothes went in our next session.
