Dear Rainforest Supporter,
We are now in the heart of the dry season, our busiest time of the year for students and independent researchers working at Finca Las Piedras. This year, we reached a new record for participation in our internship program—a science-focused program that attracts undergraduate and graduate students from around the world. Our interns learn how to conduct field research while exploring a wide variety of topics. So far this season, students have been studying monkey behavior, hummingbird diversity, soil quality, and much more. It is always inspiring to have the interns' enthusiasm and energy at the station.
This season has also welcomed a new group of Oxford interns. They are part of a partnership with the University of Oxford that has now been running for five years, and one that we are incredibly proud of. Our current interns—Blake Baillache and Alisa Arkhangelskaya—are outstanding young researchers who are contributing to our butterfly project while also supporting our communications efforts.
In other news, this year also marks our 10th anniversary. We couldn't be more grateful for everything we've accomplished over the past decade, and we're excited about what the next 10 years—and beyond—will bring. We're planning something special to celebrate this milestone, and we'll be sharing more details with you very soon. Stay tuned!
