YOU helped build affirming homes

By Liz Welch | Executive Director

Because of your generosity, Mama Dragons continues to expand the work behind our project, An Affirming Home for Every LGBTQ+ Youth. Your support helps us reach parents and caregivers with the education and resources they need to create homes where LGBTQ+ young people can feel safe, loved, and fully accepted.

With your help, we have been strengthening our education platform to bring even more learning opportunities to parents of LGBTQ+ children—no matter their child’s age or where they are in their journey. These resources help parents move from uncertainty to understanding, and from fear to confident, affirming support for their kids.

Thanks to donors like you, we are preparing to launch an expanded education platform this April. This new platform will include more topic-specific learning opportunities, deeper conversations, and practical guidance that parents often say they wish they had when their child first came out. By helping parents learn and grow, we help create safer and more affirming homes for LGBTQ+ youth everywhere.

Another exciting step forward is that we will soon open parts of our education platform beyond our membership. Beginning this spring, select learning opportunities will be available to allies, extended family members, friends, and community members. When more people understand LGBTQ+ experiences, more young people benefit from supportive environments both inside and outside their homes.

As our programs continue to grow, we are also preparing for an important transition. In the coming months, we will move this project from GlobalGiving into our own secure Mama Dragons network, where education, community support, and advocacy resources can work together in one place for families.

We are deeply grateful that GlobalGiving donors helped make this work possible. Your generosity is helping parents learn how to show up for their children with love, compassion, and understanding—creating more affirming homes for LGBTQ+ youth.

Please keep an eye out for an email from Mama Dragons soon. We’re excited to share what’s coming next and how you can continue to be part of this work.

Thank you for helping build a world where every LGBTQ+ young person can grow up in an affirming home.
