We are pleased to share an early progress update on the Animal Habitat Protection for 200 Communities project. Financially, the project has recorded its first donation, with $50 received toward the total fundraising goal of $148,500. This brings the remaining balance needed to $148,450. While fundraising is still at the initial stage, the first contribution is an encouraging sign of donor confidence in the project’s mission and impact potential. Efforts are currently being intensified to attract additional supporters, monthly donors, and strategic partners to accelerate implementation.
In preparation for project rollout, preliminary planning activities have begun, including community mapping, stakeholder identification, and the development of implementation schedules for the targeted 200 communities. Initial engagement strategies are being designed to ensure transparent use of funds and effective deployment of future donations toward habitat restoration, training programs, and local conservation committees.
The project team remains committed to prudent financial management, accountability, and measurable impact. As more funds are secured, priority expenditures will focus on native tree planting materials, community training resources, awareness campaigns, and sustainable land-use support systems. We remain optimistic that with increased donor participation, the project will move quickly from planning into full-scale field implementation, creating lasting benefits for wildlife and vulnerable communities in Niger.
