Animal Habitat Protection for 200 Communities

by Elite Star Foundation
Animal Habitat Protection for 200 Communities

Summary

Wildlife habitats in Niger are disappearing fast, putting animals and communities at risk. This project offers a practical, community-led solution that protects nature while supporting livelihoods. We will work with 200 communities to restore degraded habitats, reduce environmental damage, and empower local conservation leaders. Through reforestation, training, and community ownership, this project delivers measurable environmental impact and long-term sustainability for people and wildlife.

Challenge

Niger's ecosystems are under severe threat, and the consequences are immediate and real. Deforestation, overgrazing, climate change, and poverty are destroying animal habitats across rural communities. As wildlife loses space, biodiversity declines and human-wildlife conflict increases, damaging crops and food security. Most communities lack the resources and knowledge to protect habitats while meeting daily needs, accelerating environmental loss and vulnerability.

Solution

This project delivers a proven, community-driven conservation model with clear and achievable actions. We will establish local conservation committees, restore habitats through native tree planting, and train farmers and herders in sustainable land-use practices. Education campaigns will build awareness, while practical conflict-reduction methods protect farms and wildlife. By placing communities at the center, the project ensures feasibility, accountability, and lasting conservation outcomes.

Long-Term Impact

This project creates lasting environmental and social benefits that extend far beyond its timeline. Protected habitats will support wildlife recovery, climate resilience, and healthier ecosystems across 200 communities. Communities will gain skills, leadership, and sustainable practices that reduce conflict and improve livelihoods. Long-term impact includes preserved biodiversity, stronger food security, and empowered local stewards committed to protecting Niger's natural heritage.
