Project: “APORTA – Participatory Donation Project”

Foundation for Single Mothers and At-Risk Young Women (FUNCOMAS)
Reporting period: June–August 2025


1. Executive Summary

From June to August 2025, the APORTA project continued strengthening its innovative model of community participation and shared social responsibility. This program empowers single mothers, vulnerable youth, and community leaders to take an active role in identifying needs, prioritizing resources, and overseeing the distribution of donations provided by the community and institutional partners.

Thanks to the support of our donors, the project enhanced its participatory donation mechanism, increased transparency in community resource management, and promoted a culture of local solidarity where beneficiaries themselves also contribute—within their means—to improving the lives of other families.


2. Project Progress 2.1 Implementation of the Participatory Donation Model

Throughout the quarter, APORTA organized multiple activities to encourage direct involvement of beneficiaries in project management.

Key achievements:

  • 315 families participated in consultations and needs-assessment exercises.

  • 214 single mothers contributed symbolic donations (household items, nonperishable foods, school supplies, and clothing).

  • Three community committees were formed to oversee decision-making and ensure transparent distribution processes.

These actions reinforce the project’s core principle: everyone can contribute and be part of the change.


2.2 Donation Distribution and Support to Families

During the reporting period, the project successfully channeled essential resources to families facing acute vulnerability.

Quarter results:

  • 412 support kits delivered to mothers with urgent needs.

  • 158 school supply packages provided to children and adolescents for the start of the school year.

  • 62 food baskets distributed to households headed by single mothers with little or no income.

  • Targeted support with medicines and hygiene items for 39 families.

All distributions were guided by criteria established by community committees, ensuring fairness, equity, and transparency.


2.3 Community Education on Solidarity and Responsible Participation

Education in solidarity and collective responsibility is a foundational pillar of APORTA.

From June to August:

  • Six training workshops on community leadership, transparent management, and civic participation were conducted.

  • Four solidarity gatherings were held, enabling mothers to share experiences, skills, and mutual support.

  • A series of motivational talks promoted self-esteem, collaboration, and community networks.

These activities strengthen community cohesion and build the capacity for sustainable social change.


3. Institutional Strengthening and Partnerships

The APORTA project continues to grow through strategic alliances that expand its reach and efficiency.

Quarter highlights:

  • Two new local businesses joined as collection points for donations.

  • Collaboration with a community youth network supported logistics and distribution.

  • Renewed agreements with volunteer professionals (social workers, psychologists, and educators).

These alliances enhance impact and operational effectiveness.


4. Use of Funds (June–August 2025)

  • Purchase of essential items (food, hygiene, school supplies): 44%

  • Logistics and distribution: 23%

  • Training and community activities: 18%

  • Collection materials and storage organization: 9%

  • Project management, monitoring, and transparency: 6%

Resource allocation focused on meeting urgent needs and promoting community participation.

6. Challenges This Quarter

  • Increased demand for essential items due to rising living costs.

  • Limited storage space at current collection points.

  • Need for additional volunteers to classify donations.

We are developing strategies to expand storage capacity and improve sorting processes in the coming months.


7. Next Steps (September–November 2025)

  • Open a new community center for storage and donation classification.

  • Implement a basic digital system for tracking donations and beneficiaries.

  • Expand awareness activities on social co-responsibility.

  • Establish corporate partnerships for recurring essential-item donations.
