ACDI promotes a school support workshop at the Cristo Obrero school where children have assistance from an integrative teacher, an educational psychologist and a speech therapist.
The suspension of face-to-face classes in Argentina in the context of COVID-19 brought serious consequences for school-age children both academically and socially. Today it becomes clear the need for schools to make greater efforts and think of new strategies to respond to these challenges.
With ACDI’s support, the Cristo Obrero school in Santa Fe designed the implementation of a literacy workshop and extracurricular support group coordinated by an integrative teacher, an educational psychologist and a speech therapist.
ACDI has been supporting this School in a sustained manner. In this particular initiative it was possible to contribute with the financing of pedagogical materials and equipment and with the payment of the professional’s fees in charge of this workshop. These professionals are vital to a personalized and adequate intervention, they meet the needs of children who demand accompaniment and attention, promoting interdisciplinary work among teachers to guarantee a comprehensive approach for each student.
The workshop is an open activity, held in continuity with the routine school schedule and proposes students to carry out activities to develop literacy and mathematical logical thinking; mindfulness and self- control exercises to maintain concentration and memory games to better understand new content or tasks. With card and board games, physical activities such as imitation games, songs, puzzles and riddles. The designed tasks are thought to reinforce school content.
Theater and Music Areas are developed also in this project as well as training on digital technology and English language learning, all skills meaningful for challenges of the XXI century.
