It might seem that with the rise of the internet and social media, classic radio is a resource of the last century. Despite this assumption, the “Nuestra Señora de Luján” school, in Buenos Aires, Argentina, set itself the challenge of having its own radio station, and students were thrilled about it. ACDI supported this initiative with the acquisition of a computer, microphones and sound console to get it started.
In the digital age in which we live, it is indisputable that new strategies are required to capture the attention of students when it comes to promoting the recognition and improvement of skills such as oral and written expression. And school radio seems to still be the best tool.
At least that's what the board from Nuestra Señora de Luján School thought when designing the project for the installation of a space of these characteristics. ACDI evaluated the proposal and took the step to promote it. This is how today the institution already launched "Voices of the future", the school radio station that will broadcast its program on the air every 15 days.
The broadcast will have two formats, one oriented to interviews of characters from the world of culture and education, and the other to hold debates on various topics form subjects taught in the school subjects along the trimester.
“Voices of the future” it’s designed as an initiative that looks forward to promote cooperative learning in a creative and playful way among the children and adolescents with the support of the teacher’s crew. Groups of students will have the opportunity to organize all stages of the process and develop as announcers and producers (organizes the programming and assigns the schedule and duration of the blocks); project leader (in charge of choosing the part that each member will do); (based on the contents studied in class, he/she will select and organize the most interesting ones for the audience); responsible for the music (will look for the appropriate music in each block and theme) and Technical manager (will be the one who starts and finishes the recording).
This Project has a long way to go and make the most of it. Join us, let’s keep supporting “Voices of the future” a school radio station that have just kick off and has lot to show as on this 2023!
