We fund transport (fuel, tickets) and "Watch Kits" for our volunteers. This ensures they can quickly and safely reach lonely, terminally ill patients-especially at night-so no one passes away alone.
Look at the photo of the corridor. After 7:00 PM, hospital and hospice wards empty out, and profound loneliness sets in. Sometimes, a phone call in the middle of the night means a solitary person is entering the final stage of life. The challenge is reaching them in time. Our volunteers are ready to be there, but they face logistical and financial barriers to travel safely at night across the region.
We are not asking for luxury cars. We just need a drop of fuel to bring life and presence to these empty corridors. This project creates a transport fund (fuel reimbursement, night tickets) to get our volunteers where they are needed most. It also funds "Watch Kits"-containing books to read to patients and players with soothing music-to transform a cold hospital room into a space of peace.
By removing the financial burden of travel from our volunteers, we ensure a 24/7 readiness to respond. Your support guarantees that logistical barriers will never be the reason someone has to face their final moments alone in the dark.
