Help Adults with Disabilities in Mexico Create Art

Warm greetings from Querétaro dear friends and supporters!

November is a special month for many of us. We started the month remembering our departed loved ones, on November 2^nd, All-Souls Day also known as “Día de Muertos” in Mexico. Colorful altars are set up in homes, communities, and plazas. We share with you a photo of the altar decorated in El Arca by our beneficiaries. And as year-end approaches, we start to prepare quality products for sale at the many Christmas bazars that will soon take place in Querétaro.

It is also a good time to gather and reflect on achievements this year and plan for the coming cycle. Our community was recently the site where directors of Spanish-speaking El Arca communities met for this. One of our achievements this year was to set up a weekly time of psychotherapy and accompaniment where our beneficiaries, in a very safe space, can express themselves in terms of their needs, frustrations, experiences within and outside the community, as well as their dreams. Discussions on their rights but also their responsibilities take place, on how to achieve better autonomy and have their voices heard, and most importantly how to avoid risky situations.

The fall season is also special as we give thanks for the bounty of the earth and harvest the summer crops. In our community, we are thankful for the efforts of the volunteers and all the dedicated staff, as well as for our board members. We are especially grateful for the presence of friends and supporters like you, who allow us to continue providing a safe and nurturing environment to our beneficiaries. We hope you will be called to support our project and encourage your friends to do so, on Giving Tuesday, GlobalGiving's year-end campaign.
