Rehabilitation of Children with disabilities

1. Introduction

This progress report outlines the continued implementation and outcomes of the rehabilitation project for children with disabilities, supported through generous donations received via the GlobalGiving platform. Over the subsequent three-month period, Arushi Society continued to provide structured therapeutic interventions to children with diverse developmental needs, building upon the gains achieved during the previous phase of the project.

2. Objective

The objective of this phase was to ensure continuity of care through regular physiotherapy, occupational therapy, and speech & language therapy. The focus remained on further strengthening motor skills, communication abilities, independence in daily activities, and emotional well-being, while also reinforcing parental involvement.

3. Beneficiaries

During this reporting period, the project continued to support 15 children with special needs, including children with:

  • Autism Spectrum Disorder
  • Intellectual Disabilities
  • Speech and Language Delays

All beneficiaries received individualized therapy plans based on periodic assessments and progress reviews.

5. Outcomes and Impact

  • Improved Motor Coordination:
    9 children showed further improvement in balance, coordination, and fine motor skills.
  • Enhanced Communication Skills:
    6 children demonstrated progress in expressive and receptive language, with increased use of words, sounds, or meaningful gestures.
  • Increased Independence:
    7 children showed greater independence in daily living activities such as feeding, dressing, and maintaining personal hygiene.
  • Improved Attention and Social Interaction:
    Several children showed improved attention span, eye contact, and participation in guided activities.

Empowered Parents:
Parents reported increased confidence in supporting therapy goals at home through regular counseling and guidance
