Thank you so much to all of our sponsors who have helped us keep the citizens of Rubuguri, Uganda, safe and healthy! We are happy to share that there have still been no reported cases of COVID in the area, even while the country of Uganda is experiencing a surge in new cases.
Our on-ground team has continued to maintain our tippy-taps, or handwashing stations, which they installed at the onset of the pandemic at personal homes, schools, churches, and government buildings. Along with the installation, the staff members have also educated the locals on how to properly use the tippy-taps as well as on other methods of illness prevention.
Our most exciting update is that this week the U.S. staff members will be traveling to Rubuguri along with some volunteers to set up the new Saving Grace project, which will bring much needed medical care and first-aid to the area, including COVID testing. This project is being headed by a trained U.S. RN who is generously donating her time, knowledge, and supplies to make this idea a reality. We are most excited about the impact this project will have on the elderly members of the community, many of whom live alone in the mountains and lack the resources and transportation to seek help at the local government-run clinic. Through the Saving Grace project, we will bring the healthcare to them!
Thank you again to our sponsors for helping to make the world a better place--we appreciate you!
