Nutrition and proper healthcare are so important for both longevity and quality of life! In Rubuguri, Angel Projects Uganda staff members are working hard to provide both of these for the members of our Elderly Project. They have been experimenting with different types of crops and agricultural practices in our Greenhouse Project in order to grow a larger variety of healthy foods to add to the elderly's diet. For instance, the staff members have learned how to grow vegetables in a variety of ways, how to harvest and prepare seeds for the next growing season, and how to use compost to boost plant growth.
Another added bonus of this important greenhouse work is that the surplus crops can be sold at the local market, or even in the greenhouse itself, in order to earn extra money that can help support the needs of the Elderly Project. It's a win-win!
Besides attending to the nutrition of the elderly community members, Angel Projects remains dedicated to providing them with regular quality healthcare. Recently, one of Angel Projects' sponsored nursing students, Anitah, volunteered time over her break from school to help at the organization. One of her tasks was to visit the elderly and give them proper medical checkups. She was happy to offer her skills to our Elderly Project, and she also volunteers her time and expertise to help out at the local heath clinic.
Through offering healthcare and nutritious food options to the members of our Elderly Project, we are helping them live their best lives, and we are showing them that they are valued and loved members of the community. Thank you for supporting our endeavors through your generous giving!
