Continuing Care for Our Elderly

Back in November, we received some devastating news from Uganda: Caroline, one of the first members of our Elderly Project, had passed away.  Although we continue to mourn her loss, we are comforted by knowing that her final time on this earth was spent in dignity, supplied with everything she needed to live comfortably and surrounded by people who loved and cared for her. That is the main mission of the Elderly Project: to provide some of the most vulnerable members of society with the food and supplies they need and to let them know that they are loved and valued.

Since Caroline's passing, we have added a new member to the Elderly Project; Keredonia was born in 1943, and despite facing lifelong challenges with her eyesight, she was able to build a life for herself along with her late husband.  However, after his passing, Keredonia was left all alone, as she and her husband had been unable to have children. As an 83-year-old widow, Keredonia was dealing with both physical and emotional challenges, and her needs were often going unmet.  This is so often the case for the older members of Ugandan society. Fortunately, The Angel Projects was made aware of Keredonia's plight, and because of the generosity of our sponsors, we have been able to provide her with food, bedding, medicine, healthcare, and company! Keredonia's life has changed dramatically in the past couple of months, and we feel privileged to have played a part in her transformation.

The other member of our Elderly Project, Yudes, continues to battle health problems and was even hospitalized for a time back in December. Fortunately, she is now resting and recovering back at home, and she continues to benefit from the support of our staff members who visit her and help her with her cooking and cleaning. Yudes is always so joyful when the staff come to visit her, and she thrives on their relationships. She also greatly benefits from the nutritious food and medical care that are provided to her, thanks to our generous donors!

Finally, at Christmas time, The Angel Projects was able to provide chickens, spices, and other special items to additional elderly members of the community in order to make their holiday season a little more special.  Their big smiles say it all!  Thank you to everyone who continues to contribute to the Elderly Project--you are truly making a difference!
