Dear our supporters,
Greetings from Tokyo! Hi, this is Yoi from Ashoka Japan. It's becoming rainy season in Japan, but we are also enjoying some sunny and warm days. Hope this finds you well.
I would like to share our Youth Changemaker Exchange (YCX) 2021 program that took place last month!
YCX 2021 was a virtual exchange between 5 Youth Venturers and 6 students from Swarthmore College. All of them are passionate about creating positive changes in the world and working on some projects right now.
Some participants got stunned by other students' projects in terms of analysis of the problem, scale of impact they are hoping to create, and determination and commitment they have. It was amazing to see young changemakers from all over the world got connected and inspire each other.
Student profile with their project descriptions can be found here.
We also welcomed two wonderful social innovators (Ashoka Fellows) who talked about the importance of empathy and social innovation. Both of them are around 20-minute long, and I highly recommend watching these keynote speeches!
Opening plenary: Mary Gordon (Founder and CEO of Roots of Empathy)
"Empathy: Platform for Social Innovation"

Closing Plenary: Bart Weetjens (Founder of APOPO)
"Self-compassion: empathy to the Self"

Thank you for your continuous support on us! We can make something like YCX 2021 happen thanks to your generous support.
We will continue working on creating an environment where youth are allowed and encouraged to be a changemaker!
Warm regards.
Yoi on behalf of Ashoka Japan team
*The original YCX happened in 2019, and we were planning to continue, however, when COVID hit the world, we had to cancel the one in 2020. This year, we organized a virtual one to exchange ideas, thoughts, inspirations and energy for making the world a better place.
