3 Generations is committed to indigenous peoples and their struggles to protect their communities, lands and traditions. It is one of the reasons that we recently held a Livestream Solstice Celebration.
As we in the Northern Hemisphere observe the summer solstice the people in the Southern Hemisphere celebrate the winter solstice. It is an important event for the Indigenous peoples of Peru. It is the shortest day of the year and the beginning of the Incan New Year. It is considered a time of rebirth and renewal. This year’s celebration is especially important given the recent hardships endured by the Chinchero indigenous community during the pandemic.
We were honored to be a part of the blessing and celebration ceremony of both the winter and summer solstices with Puma Quispe, Shaman and Community Leader in Chinchero, Peru. He was joined by Alex Stark, world renowned Feng Shui expert, and 3 Generations Board Chair Nadia Zilkha, Deeksha-giver.
Puma Quispe led a sunrise ceremony and blessing. The rite was incredibly special and moving. It was a fantastic way to usher in the summer or winter depending on where you live. You can watch it on our Facebook and YouTube channels.
